North Island

THE NORTH ISLAND // VANCOUVER ISLAND, BC

The North Island is an travel art film and a historical document, depicting the scenes and the feelings of the northern part of Vancouver Island in the Spring of 2019. I wanted to capture the raw beauty, the mightiness, the graceful loneliness, and turn it into a thoughtful piece that will stand as a timestamp on what this part of the world once looked and felt like.

It’s been a goal of mine to create portraits of the areas less traveled that evoke a sense of presence and emotion. I want to capture everything without glossing over anything. I find most tourism/travel films focus on the beauty we understand - the waterfall or the sunset, which is great, but doesn’t invite you into the full experience.

Every log washed on the beach, every lingering cloud, every rusted piece of equipment parked on the muddy road tells a part of the story, and that’s the story I wanted to tell.

Hope you enjoy.
